Hallstatt
Idyllic location on the lake, many historic
buildings: Chinese architects liked Hallstatt so much, they built a replica of
this internationally famous World Cultural Heritage site in the People’s
Republic. The picturesque original has its roots in the region’s rich salt
deposits. In fact, deep inside the “world’s oldest salt mine” located above
Hallstatt, “white gold” is still mined to this day.

Bad Ischl,
Kaiservilla
The connections between the Habsburg dynasty and Bad Ischl extend back over 700 years. As 15-year-old Crown Prince Franz Joseph once wrote to his mother: "Oh, how I long for dear, dear Ischl." Now as then, Bad Ischl celebrates the “Emperor’s Birthday” on 18 August with great ceremony and joy, while the family life of the Habsburgs still echoes in rooms of the Imperial Villa.
