Tauplitz – skiing in the heart of Austria

The pistes of Tauplitz lie mostly above the tree line. Which means, if you are lucky with the weather, you will be skiing from morning until evening in brilliant sunshine. Accompanied by imposing panoramas of the hundreds of Alpine peaks which surround you. Expansive views, endless skies and glistening snow crystals – on the Tauplitz, you will quickly sense what freedom truly means.

Tauplitz is one of the snowiest areas in the Alps. Modern snowmaking equipment serves as an additional guarantee that our winter season is extremely long – generally, from the end of November until after Easter. Our piste designers build runs that are essentially molded to the natural terrain features of our ski mountains, also with the greatest sensitivity for snow and weather conditions. No wonder, then, that they have received multiple awards for their outstanding efforts. They are also free of Wi-Fi and unnecessary public address systems. A decision that was consciously made to ensure you can feel the pure power of nature and take a deep, liberating breath again.

Tauplitz is a mountain world unlike any other – charming, original, vibrant, but never overcrowded and with boundless variety. In addition to our 43 piste kilometers, we feature a Kinderland located in a sunny hollow sheltered from the wind, several ski schools, tree-less slopes for snowboarders, a nighttime sledding run, winter hiking paths with beautiful panoramic views, 177 km of cross-country ski trails and the finest powder for freeriders. We are widely acclaimed as the best freeride area in all of Styria. Though if you are ever enticed to venture beyond the boundaries of the spacious Tauplitz: Ski passes issued for 1 ½ days or longer are also accepted by our Schneebären-Card partners: Ski Riesneralm, Planneralm, Loser Altaussee and Kaiserau. 

This area is also home to 18 ski huts and restaurants. All of them are right by the pistes – some are well-known for their party atmosphere and also offer live music. We love to celebrate, but the après-ski atmosphere is genuine, not staged – the people of Ausseerland - Salzkammergut are naturally cheerful and high-spirited. Most of our local lodging and dining establishments are family-run, giving you an opportunity to get to know your hosts personally. You will receive an especially friendly reception from the new restaurant "Die Tauplitzerin" at the lift valley station. And since we happen to be talking about the valley station: It has been completely rebuilt, now with a brand-new ski depot and expanded parking.
