Walking, hiking, alpine tours & a via ferrata

This area of high pastures isn’t just a treat for the eyes, it also promises a colorful array of sporting challenges: Take a stroll with your pram or dog, splash about in the water, do something to develop those » hiker muscles« in your legs, or perhaps put your courage to the test on a fixed-cable climb.

Idyllic alpine village and magnificent nature

High above the valley at 1650 m above sea level, the world is still as it should be. Here, you will live amid vibrant nature. Mountain lakes, countless peaks, rare alpine flowers such as daphne, globe daisies, gentian, rhododendron, and magnificent displays of color during the changing seasons.

Leisurely bike rides and free bike transport

Quietly pedal across the high plateau, later zoom down to the Bad Mitterndorf valley, ride along the Salzkammergut bike path to the valley station in Tauplitz, then catch a lift together with your bike up to idyllic Tauplitzalm village, arriving without a single bead of sweat on your brow.

Allergy sufferers can take a deep breath

At 1600 m above sea level, the Tauplitzalm is free of house dust mites, while pollen levels are exceptionally low. Tip: a timeout from allergens is the most natural form of therapy.

Hiking

If you want to give your legs a real workout or take on a challenging tour of the mountains, the sunny plateau of the Tauplitzalm is just what you’re looking for. Better still: All tours begin right outside Hotel Berghof.

Walking

Setting out from here at Hotel Berghof, you can leave the constraints of daily life behind you, take a deep breath and explore magical Tauplitzalm village. Whether you prefer to hike around one, two or three mountain lakes – without any major climbs long the way – is entirely up to you.

Via Ferrata

The Gamsblick via ferrata on the Tauplitzalm is the exclusive preserve of chamois and experienced climbers. Given a “C” difficulty rating, it promises a marvelous adventure high above the ground, culminating with a summit conquest of the 1981 m-high Traweng. Start: at Hotel Berghof.

Stand-Up Paddling

On the Steirersee, the biggest of the 6 mountain lakes on the Tauplitzalm, SUP fans are more than welcome. Boards and paddles can be borrowed at Hotel Berghof. Use is at your own risk. Please bring along any additional equipment you might need, such as a neoprene swimsuit.

Sightseeing

Crystal-clear lakes, imposing mountain scenery and the easy-going hospitality of the locals make Tauplitz and Bad Mitterndorf in the Ausseerland - Salzkammergut region unique. Join us and enjoy the wealth of opportunities.

Bike fans in Styria can look forward to many challenging and beautifully designed bike paths.

Biking

Setting out from Hotel Berghof, you can look forward to a leisurely bike ride along the sunny balcony that is the Tauplitzalm. For added speed, we suggest cruising down to Bad Mitterndorf. Once in the valley, you have numerous tours to choose from. Tip: Until 4 PM, you can ride the quad chairlift with your bike all the way back up to Hotel Berghof!
