Tauplitz lies in Ausseerland - Salzkammergut and is the biggest single ski area in Styria. 43 piste kilometers spread across three mountains – the Mitterstein, Lawinenstein, Schneiderkogel – with the Tauplitzalm in between. Spacious slopes promise ideal conditions for every type of skier: long, sporty runs or pleasant broad hills for more laid-back skiers and families.
Premium pistes, lots of snow and sunshine, panoramic views
Our premium pistes mostly lie above the tree line and, if you have a little luck with the weather, you will be skiing from morning until evening in brilliant sunshine. We also have lots of snow – Tauplitz is actually one of the snowiest areas in the Alps. Modern snowmaking equipment serves as an additional guarantee that our winter season is extremely long.
Many lines, finest powder, variety-packed terrain
Tauplitz is regarded as the best freeride area in all of Styria – very diverse, but easy to navigate. On our three ski mountains, you will find many lines – some obvious, some more hidden – steep mountainsides and the finest powder – and you will quickly discover, Tauplitz has earned its reputation as a “snow trap”! Sunny with amazing 360° panoramic views of the surrounding mountain world: Here with us, you will quickly understand what freedom is all about!
Winter hiking, car-free area, amazing natural spectacle
There are no cars at the Tauplitzalm in winter and the moment you arrive, you will quickly realize: The clocks up here tick a little differently – more attentively, in time with nature itself. As you explore the clearly marked and perfectly maintained winter hiking paths, you are likely to be bathed in radiant sunshine as you experience the impressive panoramic views of hundreds of Alpine peaks all around you. One day on the Tauplitz is as rejuvenating as an extended weekend spent elsewhere.
Skiing
Tauplitz has something exciting in store for every skier and snowboarder: sporty downhill runs or gentle, broad pistes – we offer 43 piste kilometers, for the most part above the tree line, 360° panoramic views, feelings of freedom and abundant sunshine.
Freeriding
Tauplitz is one of the snowiest areas in the Alps: with plenty of fresh powder and fine pillows for your lines. The terrain is diverse, the 360° panoramic views are amazing and, if the weather plays along, you will be riding in radiant sunshine the whole time.

Winter Hiking
Two perfectly maintained winter hiking paths, on the Lawinenstein and through Tauplitzalm village, promise a marvelous natural spectacle: 360° panoramic views of hundreds of Alpine peaks all around, lots of snow and, if the weather cooperates, sunshine all day long.
Night Sledding
Stars twinkling overhead, the runners of your sled aglow, the snow crunching beneath: At speeds up to 60 km/h, you will zoom on safety-certified sleds down the Grafenwiesen piste in Tauplitz. This is the perfect après-ski experience for all night owls who love speed.
Cross-Country Skiing
The cross-country trails on the Tauplitzalm promise plenty of
sporting challenges and you’ll quickly work up a “full head of steam” from here
at Hotel Berghof. The trails in Bad Mitterndorf Valley are flat. The entire
trail network is one of the longest in Austria and the views of the surrounding
mountain world are amazing.
